Georgia Chamber Names Outstanding Legislators

It’s that time a year again – legislative scorecards and awards are being dispersed from various organizations around the state based on legislation from the 2017 session. The most recent accolades announced are from the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber announced Wednesday via press release that State Senator Brandon Beach and State Representative Christian Coomer took the top spots as “Legislator of the Year” for their respective chambers. Both pledged to continue the efforts of the Chamber going into the 2018 session.

One of Augusta’s newly-elected state representatives, Mark Newton, landed the “Rookie of the Year” award. The first term legislator said he plans to continue making economic development and the expansion of job availability a priority.

Chamber President and CEO Chris Clark said in the press release, “We are very thankful to our 2017 award recipients for their continued support of Georgia’s business community. Thanks to their hard work and dedication, Georgia is a beacon for free enterprise and job creation. With their help, we can all work together to keep Georgia #1 for business.”
