Handel Releases New #GA6 Ad Questioning Ossoff’s ISIS Front Line Claims
From a Handel press release:
The Karen Handel Campaign released the TV & Digital ad “Front line” which highlights Sergeant Grant McGarry, a United States Army veteran who served on the front lines against ISIS.
A previous ad by Jon Ossoff claims he “sent a team to the front line against ISIS.” In reality, Jon Ossoff sent a film crew from his London based company to produce a product called “Girls, Guns, and ISIS.” Sergeant McGarry fought on the front line against ISIS and their atrocities, putting his life on the line. Ossoff touting his experience with ISIS as being on “the front line” is an insult to our troops.
“I am honored to have brave men and women like Sergeant McGarry fighting on the front lines against ISIS, keeping us safe here at home,” said Handel Spokeswoman Kate Constantini. “It is disgraceful for Jon Ossoff to even consider his experience of sending a film crew from his cushy London office as being ‘on the front line’ and just another example of him trying to mislead voters about his flimsy resume and lack of actual accomplishments.”
Script:
Sergeant McGarry: As an army ranger, I deployed five times to the middle east fighting to keep Americans safe
Jon Ossoff said he sent a team to the front line against ISIS
I fought for our country, Jon Ossoff hired a film crew
For him to say that’s being on the front lines is disgraceful
He exaggerated his security clearance too
Jon Ossoff is not fit to serve in Congress

Sergeant McGarry’s service is laudable. I think he could make an excellent congressman. But he isn’t running, so I’m not sure what the purpose of this is beyond throwing mud at wall and seeing if it sticks. It takes a special brand of willful ignorance or active malevolence to conflate Ossoff saying he “sent a film crew to the front lines of ISIS” as conflating being there himself.
As to the crew itself, it’s rather insulting to the brave men and women who do the work of journalism in combat zones in order to show the true evil of ISIS to the world. Some of the groups first Western victims and most infamous acts were the beheading of journalists. In the film (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p04f26sh), a female reporter, Stacey Dooley, was embedded with a batallion of Yazidi women fighting ISIS. Thousands of Yazidi women have been kidnapped, raped, and sold into slavery by ISIS. It is no exaggeration to say that their fate, should they have been captured, would have been monstrous. It is no exaggeration to say that the danger to Ms. Dooley, had she been captured, would likely have been even worse.
Jon Ossoff has not insulted Sergeant McGarry’s courage or bravery. Karen Handel should not insult James Foley, Steven Sotloff, John Cantile, or these brave women’s courage either.
This is so pathetic, I’m pretty sure Ossoff never claimed his experience is equivalent to an Army Ranger. If Handel wins it doesn’t speak well for that district.
Went to early vote today at lunchtime. When I did that for round one there was no line and I voted more quickly than it took to park and walk in. Today, the line was 10 deep when I arrived and twice that long by the time I got through and voted. I have no idea who that’s good for other than people are probably really ready for this election to be over.
Early voting has been on pace with a Presidential year turnout as of now. Its hard to tell who that favors but Democrats and Republicans are behind those with no party listed.
