    Or government gives $3.1 million to finish ahead of schedule.

      Or they work around the clock instead of off-hours, under lights. They didn’t have to dodge traffic either.

      Let’s not forget about an existing design that didn’t need to be paid to a private sector firm, the waiver by the federal government to override the current set of structural codes and build the sections as a ‘grandfathered design’, plus spending over twice as much on labor and special concrete mixes that any other time would have taxpayers up in arms for ‘wasteful spending’. I can make any public works construction project go faster, if the people paying the private sector contractors (which all new transportation projects are BTW) are willing to pay for it. What I can’t control are the permitting and the code review schedules – which could be shortened if there were more plan and environmental reviewers, which again, we as taxpayer employee and already under fund because, you know… taxes.

        I think you would be amazed at the number of people who dont make that connection. They think “government” builds it without any contractors I guess

    What gets lost in the whole climate argument is regardless if we are in the Paris agreement, regardless if you believe it exists or it’s just a hoax to entertain the Noway’s of the world, the facts are sea level is raising, glaciers are melting, the plant on the whole is getting hotter and wind speeds and jet streams are getting faster and less predictable. That has to be addressed and planned for regardless of why it happens.

      If I and my advisors had never learned what Science is or how & why it works, then I’d consider pulling out of the Paris Climate Accord too.

        Is that the thing which moves the water in the river and marshes 1000 feet or so from my windows twice a day? Good to know.

        Staying on topic… that doesn’t explain how the yearly average water levels at Annapolis, Norfolk, Charleston, and Jacksonville are all 12″ -37″ higher then when each base started recording mean sea level. Either adapting, addressing, changing, or rebuilding some of the elements of each navel area will be a taxpayer funded issue.

        If you read the article, you would note, it has a lot of points you agree with…

      I can put it more bluntly
      If Climate Science is for some reason wrong but we act on it, we still have cleaner air, cheaper renewable LOCAL energy, and healthier kids
      If Norway’s opinion wins out and we dont act, and HE IS WRONG…
      We All Die

      Thats why I find the whole argument to be an exercise in stupidity.

    The point of terrorism isn’t fear. It comes from a convert or be killed mentality. From their point of view, if you’re not following their rules, you’re to be stamped out. So returning to your bar to settle your tab, as you put it, really means to resume being a target.
