Stacey Evans Announces 2018 Gubernatorial Bid

State Rep. Stacey Evans is running for governor in 2018, making her initial announcement via email. That now puts two Democrats in the race. Evans will face the powerful House minority leader Stacey Abrams, who already has begun consolidating support at the national level. And so it begins…

The announcement is below the fold:

“I wanted you to be the first to know, I’m running for Governor.

Together, we’ve already done a lot. But we’re not done yet.

I am running not only to protect the HOPE scholarship, which was the only way I could have gone to college, but also to fight to bring hope to so many Georgians who are struggling to make ends meet.

I’m running to bring good jobs to Georgia and help our small businesses so that every Georgia family has the opportunity to make a better life for themselves.

Every Georgian deserves that same chance to succeed that I had, that same opportunity to get ahead and right now, Georgia families don’t have that. For too long the system has been tilted in favor of the rich and powerful, I am running to bring hope back to every single Georgia family.

I hope you’ll join me so that together we can bring hope back to Georgians.”
