New GOP Poll Shows Ossoff Declining in Support
The Washington Examiner, using information from a Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF) letter to its donors, is reporting that Jon Ossoff’s campaign has taken a signficant hit since the CLF began running its $2.2 million ad buy. The memo states that “in just one week, Ossoff has stalled on the ballot, and most importantly, he is now underwater with more voters viewing him unfavorably (38% favorable, 47% unfavorable). This is a large swing from last week when he was +17 (43% favorable, 26% unfavorable).”
The memo also shows that voters prefer a pro-Ryan agenda candidate (62%) to a pro-Pelosi agenda candidate (26%) and that, by a margin of 47-36, the voters believe Ossoff will be Pelosi’s rubber stamp. The poll also showed that “a plurality of voters believe Ossoff has made up facts to cover up his inexperience.”

Does that mean they specifically asked about “pro-Ryan” vs “pro-Trump” agendas?
Pro-Ryan – The question, kinda heavy on bias, was: “Thinking about your vote for your next congressman, which of the following is more important to you? The candidate will work with Paul Ryan to fix Obamacare, reign in the record national debt, strengthen national defense, and reform our tax code so it is simpler and more fair for all Americans. Or, the candidate will work with Nancy Pelosi to protect Obamacare, and will fight against any tax and regulatory form.”
I get surveys like this in the mail all the time. Infuriatingly misleading. Questions have embedded bias, lies,”Alternative facts” and multiple conflicting issues. Yet you are expected to answer yes or no. They aren’t surveys. Just incendiary spew. “Please send in a donation to support whatever it is you think we are doing.”
There’s also:
“Agree/Disagree: Jon Ossoff will be a rubberstamp for Nancy Pelosi’s liberal agenda.”
“Which of the following comes closest to your opinion? John Ossoff has repeatedly made up facts about his background to cover up his inexperience and lack of accomplishment OR Jon Ossoff has the right experience to represent you in Congress.”
This is a push poll being sold as being evidence of what’s happening in the district. If I were the GOP and actually had good numbers, I’m not sure why I’d be pushing these.
It’s not a push poll. They are clearly testing their message. The “rubberstamp for Pelosi” has been in all their ads. They are trying to get feed back on if that line is working. Clearly it is. This is just a follow up survey that people with lots of money use to see if they are getting their monies worth out of their ads. It’s a way for them to prove to their donors their ads are working.
If you’re testing whether your message is breaking through, maybe don’t also stick it in the poll? Otherwise, you’re just trying to shove your message out by other means. Repeating lines a pollster tells you back to you doesn’t actually demonstrate an ad’s effectiveness compared to providing a more neutral question that nevertheless gets that response. If you’re testing different ad lines in a poll setting to see which you think would be most effective, it’s using a poll as a focus group and again not actually evidence of what’s going on.
They are doing that too. I know how all this works. You can call it whatever you want, but it’s a tool they use to show that their message is working. Or you can get mad about the fact that Ossoff has peaked and is now on the down slide and is very unlikely to get the 50% he needs to win. Or you can continue to complain about push polls. I don’t care.
Does anyone, even Dems, really listen to Nancy Pelosi anymore?
Repubs seem to get more jazzed about her than Dems ever have.
….will work with Paul Ryan to fix Obamacare…..
Ryan or the GOP fixing Obamacare is news to me.
Yeah. “Kinda heavy”. So this was a push poll?
My friends,
First, consider the source.
Second, consider the questions.
Third, consider how most effectively the good citizens of the 6th can be represented.
Finally, if money is the sole determinant of righteousness, this Republic will perish.
Dude, you are not Alexander Hamilton. So thou should stopeth with the clear knock off of his writings. Also, he used Secondly and thirdly. If you are going to do it at least do it right.
Consider the source – Which is why I was very clear in the title of the posting where the poll came from.
“Third, consider how most effectively the good citizens of the 6th can be represented.”
Ossoff ain’t “that guy”.
“IF IT PLEASES THE CROWN…”
Seriously biased poll. But then, aren’t they all? (laughs hysterically)
In related news, DOG poll shows CATS declining in support.
Baseball 50% and dropping over last polling period.
Breaking: Organization asking for more money tells people who would give it money that their money was totally helpful and did useful things.
I mean, the idea that a fundraising letter from Paul Ryan’s SuperPAC that says Paul Ryan’s SuperPAC’s ads were super effective in making everyone in the 6th prefer Paul Ryan is… something. But evidence of what’s actually going on in the 6th? Not so much.
Thank you for your donation. We are going to waste that money sending you weekly letters asking you for money and selling your name to other organizations looking for ‘sucker lists’.
Yours Truly
Ben Carson
BTW, GS Strategy Group who ran the poll…isnt even in the polling business. They are hired for messaging.
Enough said.
I don’t buy it. Ryan proposed a preposterous piece of legislation in the AHCA. My neighbors saw this and were left with open mouths. He had to know it would fail. He had to know it was diametrically opposite to what Trump campaigned on. Why he pushed this down Trumps gullible throat is the question. I think it was a test on Trump loyalty. Trump passed the test but lost respect with his confused constituents.
Ryan needs intelligent guidance. I believe Ossoff can provide that guidance. And with Ossoff you can bet there will not be hidden agenda handouts buried in the bill. He’ll dissect it for fraud and waste. That’s what he does.
New GOP poll…….oh really?
