Mclver won’t seek reappointment to State Election Board

Citing the “sudden and tragic death” of his wife, Diane, last September, Claude “Tex” Mclver told Senate leaders via letter that he will not seek reappointment. Appointed in 2005, Tex Mclver’s most recent term comes to an end in April. According to the AJC, Mclver has also resigned from the labor law firm, Fisher Phillips, after 44 years.

Mclver was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter, reckless conduct, and a felony in December following an ongoing investigation into the shooting that resulted in the death of Diane Mclver. Tex Mclver maintains the shooting was an accident and is currently out on a $200,000 bond. He has not been indicted.
