That took me to this “two-question survey,” which asked “1.If you arrived at a polling place and found out what the wait time is, which one of these wait times would keep you from getting in line to wait to vote.
The problem is that last sentence of the second question which is terrible. An increase in the early voting period would cost up to $750,000 -but it doesn’t say how much less WAITING time Gwinnett voters would get for that money. How can they be asked to budget for a wait time, when they’re only being given information about the cost of a voting period?
I hope the Gwinnett Board of Elections will disregard this flawed survey and that maybe get a professional to help them design a better one. (I’m not going to suggest anyone directly, but his initials are Chris Huttman.)
I don’t know -I’ve had clients there, but am not privy to the County’s considerations. Off the top of my head, I think they have more than 160 precincts on election day. Seems inefficient to create a dozen early voting locations (and keep them open for weeks) when you might be able to open up some or all of the locations you already have.
Yeah question 2 is too much information. This should really be a 1 question survey and they can deduce the answer to 2 using good old fashioned optimization.
Personally, I think elections should be held over the course of a weekend for the full 48 hours to maximize the ability of all eligible voters to cast ballots.
Given that Clinton won Gwinnett last fall—the first Democratic presidential candidate to win there in 40 years—and Isakson’s win there wasn’t too impressive—maybe it is the Republicans who need your help!
Go back to voting on Election Day or Absentee. No early voting at all.
