Trump Nominates Gorsuch For SCOTUS; GA Senators Respond
President Trump has nominated Judge Neil Gorsuch to fill the vacancy left by Antonin Scalia on the United States Supreme Court. Georgia’s Senators Johnny Isakson and David Perdue released the following statements on the nomination:
Senator Isaskon:
“I have consistently said that the next Supreme Court justice should be someone who understands and values the Constitution of the United States of America, who will rule based on the law and who will not legislate through activist judicial decisions,” said Isakson. “I know that the president shares this view and based on his previous rulings, Judge Gorsuch shares the late Justice Antonin Scalia’s commitment to starting all constitutional analysis with the actual text of the Constitution. In addition, Judge Gorsuch’s distinguished service on the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals provides vital, relevant experience for service on our nation’s highest court.
“As I argued following the untimely death of Justice Scalia last year, the American people deserved to have a voice in the process of selecting our next Supreme Court justice by allowing the next president to select Justice Scalia’s replacement. That day has arrived and the American people have spoken. President Trump’s nominee deserves fair and thorough consideration and an up-or-down vote by the Senate, and I look forward to Judge Gorsuch’s confirmation process.”
Senator Perdue:
“President Trump promised the American people he would nominate someone to the Supreme Court who is unwavering in their support of the Constitution, and he has kept his word. I applaud President Trump for nominating Judge Gorsuch to be our next Supreme Court Justice. Throughout his career Judge Gorsuch has stood steadfast in his support of our Constitution and the Founding Principles it enshrines: economic opportunity, fiscal responsibility, limited government, and individual liberty. These principles are what make the United States exceptional and each branch of government shares the responsibility for protecting these rights.
“Judge Gorsuch has led a remarkable career both in the private and public sectors and demonstrated a keen understanding and appreciation of the law. He clerked for two Supreme Court Justices, worked at the Department of Justice under President Bush, and has served admirably on the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals for the last ten years. I look forward to confirming Judge Gorsuch and returning to a complete high court.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Jody Hice (R-GA) today released the following statement after President Donald J. Trump announced Neil Gorsuch of the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals as the nominee for Supreme Court Justice:
“Without question, Justice Antonin Scalia was an incomparable and irreplaceable legal scholar who inspired millions, including myself, with his steadfast defense of the Constitution. He adhered to the precepts of our Founding Fathers, possessed strong conservative values, and exhibited an intellect and thoughtful analysis that is rarely seen today. With the selection of Neil Gorsuch, I am confident that he will be a jurist in the mold of Justice Scalia, and I look forward to the Senate’s speedy confirmation of such a worthy candidate.”
It’s a good pick by Trump. Dems will say Gorsuch is not in the “mainstream”, whatever that means. MSNBC showed a small crowd of prepositioned demonstrators outside SCOTUS. Nothing new here. Same anti Trump demonstrators we have seen before.
Trump may get two more picks. Kennedy may want to retire and Ruthie Ginsburg is not looking too good these days.

“Justice Antonin Scalia was a fair judge and an ardent defender of the Constitution. His time on the bench was what our Founding Fathers envisioned. President Trump promised to nominate a judge to the Supreme Court who shares these convictions and I applaud his nomination of Neil Gorsuch tonight. I urge my colleagues in the Senate to act swiftly on their important work to confirm Judge Gorsuch and complete the Supreme Court again.”
I figure if the ACLU, Planned Parnethood, NARAL and NOW are against the nomination, as likely will be the case with ultraliberal Chuck Schumer, well, then it can’t be that bad a nomination.

So is it possible that abortion will be deemed to be murder?
No.
It ain’t gonna’ be speedy unless they go nuclear. Even then I predict the usual sound and fury, signifying nothing.
I can’t wrap my head around the blatent partisan obstruction and that more people aren’t bothered that these people held the nomination hostage. didn’t even hold a hearing to even say “no”…just didn’t do their jobs and now want to be engaged?!?
