Hyundai Kia Looking To Expand US Manufacturing

A few years ago Georgia officials thought they were closing in on a second Kia manufacturing plant for Georgia. Ultimately, the company decided they needed a manufacturing presence in Mexico over a third US plant.

With political winds changing and US demand increasing, the folks at Hyundai and Kia are again looking at additional US manufacturing capacity.

Hyundai and corporate partner Kia announced on Tuesday a new plan that will see the automotive companies invest $3.1 billion in the United States over the next five years.

Although exact details of Hyundai-Kia’s investment strategy are unknown at this time, the Korean automaker says the money could be used to build a new car factory in the U.S. or expand one of its existing facilities. Also on the table is a plan to build the company’s new line of luxury Genesis models in the U.S., along with a new SUV.

The folks in and around West Point Georgia may be getting some new available jobs soon.

    Good things will happen when we have an administration that is proud to be the largest economy in the world, not ashamed of it. Action will reverse income issues a lot better than assistance.

    Now we are seeing many more stories of small counties across the south competing to attract industrial jobs from around the world. The trick will be to do it financially wise.
