Earlier this morning, Charlie wrote a post speculating on how Georgians might play a part in a new Trump administration. One of the people he mentioned was Senator David Perdue, who was one of President-elect Trump’s earliest supporters and who met with Trump to plot how the businessman could appropriate Perdue’s outsider strategy in his run for the White House. As Jessica speculated back in July, would Perdue fit in as Trump’s Commerce Secretary?

In an interview on Tim Bryant’s Newsmakers program this morning, Perdue quickly shut down that idea. After being asked by Bryant if there is anything to the possibility of Trump becoming Commerce Secretary, Perdue said, “I’ve got a full time job right here in the Senate.”

But is there a possibility of some sort of Perdue representation in the Trump Cabinet? Politico raises the possibility that Sonny Perdue might be a candidate for Agriculture Secretary. Sonny Perdue was a member of Trump’s Agriculture Advisory Committee during the campaign, but then so was Commissioner Gary Black and Sen. John Wilkinson, chair of the Senate agriculture commitee. If President Elect Trump wants to go fish for an Agriculture Secretary in the Peach State, he has a few choices.
