Former US Attorney General Janet Reno is dead. I questioned her judgement sometimes but never her integrity. She famously annoyed Bill Clinton but went her own course. Gingrich was after her once to do some gop bidding and she replied “I’m not going to violate my oath in this matter because of pressure from any quarter, not from the media, not from Congress, nor from anywhere else.” That’s something a lot of people would say but she meant it and she backed it up.
You think Randy Weaver will be at the service? Maybe the family of Richard Jewel?

It’s funny. When I read the news I read the story and usually ignore the comment section. It seems other people read only the comments and not the story!
The takeaway from FBI Director Comey’s revelation of the Weiner e-mails is that Comey can’t trust his FBI agents not to leak something political.

Dave, are you seriously implying that the only entity with in DOJ (the FBI) has been political this election season?
I didn’t mean to imply the FBI or its director were political, but simply what I wrote: Comey was afraid his agents would leak the news that the e-mails had been discovered.
It’s all over in the presidential race after the fat lady sings tomorrow night and she will sing. In Georgia, Isakson, who represents the democrat wing of the Republican Party wins without a runoff against a very weak Jim Barksdale. The only uncertainty is which party will control the senate. With the exception of Illinois where Duckworth will win easily, most of the other contested races are too close to call.
My prediction is 51 that won’t tie down Kaine.
Repubs retain both House and Senate. Let the subpeona barrage begin. The ink ain’t even dry on Chaffetz’s.
Noway, Do you seriously think a GOP congress will go after the first woman president if she wins tomorrow? They failed to get her husband, the ‘first black president’. They failed to stop the 2nd black president Obama as he spent the past 8 years making them look foolish at every turn. It will be the same group led by the same old farts attempting to go after a woman. The media will have a field day, GOPers will cower in a corner and next thing you know, her agenda will be flying through with little to no coordinated opposition. If she wins tomorrow, it will be a huge loss for the rule of law, government reform and our position in the world.
Short answer: Yes and with a vengeance. She’s a crook and everyone knows it.
Hillary is like O.J.; you know he was guilty as hell but good counsel and a stupid, easily impressionable jury got him off. Hopefully Hillary will end up in jail, just like O.J., one day. She’s done too much shady stuff involving The Foundation to not get convicted. And truthfully, the more I think about it, the more I now think Obama will issue a blanket pardon for both her and Bill.
Your choice of OJ is apt. In two days the GOP can get back to the only things they’re capable of at the national level; ignoring autopsy facts not much different from the last one, obstruction, investigations and lowering the bar. Weiner’s e-mails are crushing, just as you predicted, another Benghazi all over again.

Serious question: What are we to make of the huge Trump crowds? Are these folks just reality TV fans and will probably not be really participating as voters? We only have one more day. One side will be bitterly disappointed Wednesday morning. Are you confident in the answers given to pollsters thus far?
Trumpet is an entertainer. He draws big crowds because folks want to be entertained. His events are shows rather than campaign events. Also remember Burnie got larger crowds than Hilly.
The key takeaway there is the ability to turn those large crowds into realized votes. That is where Bernie failed. His supporters just simply did not show up in enough force and with the consistency he needed in the primaries.
It’s not even about not getting the people from the rallies to the polls, it’s that there’s far, far more people who vote than attend rallies. Back in the NY primaries, Bernie got several thousand people to show up in rallies in the Bronx, Manhattan, and Brooklyn. And he lost them all by 2 to 1 margins. Why? Because there were, combined, over 700,000 Democratic primary voters in those boroughs. Getting 15,000 people to show up at a rally is a drop in the bucket. Now, multiply that by the entire country. There’s going to probably be almost 10 million voters in Florida, 6 million voters in Ohio and Pennsylvania, 5 million voters in NC and Michigan. Now, how many people are at each of his rallies? 15,000? 20,000? Even if they all go vote, the ‘silent majority’ greatly outnumber them.
Difference in Trump crowds vs the Bern – Trump attracts votes, middle to upper aged folks who actually have voted before. Bernie – a bunch of freebie seeking young’uns wanting their education, health and whatever else they can get without working. Of course they didn’t vote, that would require initiative and time away from the Xbox.
Welllllllllll….Trump up by 130k over Romney in early FL voting! Dems better get ready to be boar-hogged tomorrow!!!! Those “deplorable” voters are gonna be heard!

GOP Senate Majority Leader McConnell 7 months ago declared the American people would decide who should nominate the replacement for Justice Scalia, and that the Senate would then consider that nominee. Now that it appears Clinton will be President, there is discussion that the Supreme Court ought to have fewer justices.
It’s been proposed that Congress enact a law shrinking the Court, and in event it’s vetoed, that the Senate should implement it anyway by exercising its advise and consent power. No wonder the GOP’s reverence for the intent of the founders is held in such high regard.
Any takers that “up or down vote” Johnny Isakson will even belatedly stand behind his words?

Assuming Isakson isn’t going to try for a fourth term at age 77, he doesn’t have a reason to go to the mattresses for four years on this. Suspect Perdue’s way will be determined as much as anything by what Georgia looks like on Wednesday. If demographics show up / it’s narrower than expected, then Perdue might trim his sails given he has to face a very different Presidential electorate in 2020 than he did in 2016.

And yes, voters need to regain control of those we elect instead of what is happening now. Example – how many congressmen or senators in this state face serious opposition with any chance of defeat? Time to ‘drain the swamp’.

I believe Trump played the race card. Everybody else is, well, trumping it.

Both candidates are scammers. On one side you have two individuals that made millions from their time in government and have a questionable charity. On the other side you got an individual with four bankruptcies, Trump University, and a charity that was not very charitable.
So, I agree. Mitch McConnell should go. Lets see, he refuses to allow the senate to do its constitutional duty on judicial appointments. He has used the filibuster more than any senate leader in history. He basically has abused power in his position grinding any business to a halt. Yeah, we need to take it back from him.
