David Scott is the Only Congressman Donating to an Opposition Member’s Reelection

Georgia’s own David Scott donated $1,000 to the reelection campaign of Mia Hunt, a Republican freshman representing Salt Lake City.

Why, you might wonder, is Scott concerned about a Republican in Utah?

According to Love, Scott told her: “First, I think it is important for us to have people of color on both sides of the aisle and, second, I want Utah to know I’m proud of what they have done.”

Scott confirmed the report to The Salt Lake Tribune.

“Mia has proven herself. She is very smart, very talented. It is very important for us as African-Americans to look at the big picture and realize that we are in a big game here and we have to have alliances.”

Love added: “I am the only candidate out of 435 members that has been endorsed and supported by someone from the other side of the aisle. That tells you something.”

The two serve on the House Financial Services Committee together and are both members of the Congressional Black Caucus.

Does this mean David Scott is the member most likely to genuinely support bi-partisanship?
