again, with all the video evidence and eyewitness testimony that is available as of this moment, i am still seeing people saying the officer was justified.
Did this help or hurt Trump? Is Ted Cruz over as a national figure in the GOP? I think bizarrely, this helps Trump. Ted is done in the GOP. Do not get why Ted would not do a Kasich or Rubio and not just show up, rather than this?

That was quite possibly the most beautiful speech on freedom, equality and voting your conscience I’ve ever witnessed. Mr. Cruz has huevos the size of the moon. I wonder if the New York delegation knew they were being mocked last night even as Cruz congratulated their enthusiasm?

That’s a very low-brow take on his actions. He was the second place finisher in a hard fought campaign. He deserved a spot on that stage. Trump and his followers have divided and destroyed the GOP by their hate filled speech and actions. They had to escort Cruz’s wife from the floor last night the mob was getting so wild. Ted Cruz may have boosted his political prospects last night, or dashed them forever. However, he has proven to the country that he is a man of principle and not blind loyalty to a party. That’s the kind of person I want to vote for.
I don’t know who will win in November and what national or global issues the next President will face, but through this election cycle I have learned a lot more about why truth, integrity and honor is important in a politician. This primary experience, I believe, has changed me as a voter. I am entitled to holding candidates to standards. (the bar is admittedly pretty low) My vote is my endorsement. If a politician proves themselves unworthy of it, then it is entirely proper for me to withhold it.
George Washington warned us against political parties and its partially because people quit electing individuals based on beliefs and character and start demanding party loyalty. It’s ridiculous.
Oh, and trying to tie Ted Cruz to the ‘U.S.S. Bush’ is the goofiest thing I’ve read today.
It figures you would find a speech where a 9 year old daughter’s despair over the murder of her cop father is used as a political prop. Cruz is a punk and he proved it yet again last night. He then doubled down on his punkness this morning in front of the not so happy home state delegation. Trump trumped his foe by giving him enough rope to hang himself last night. Cruz put the noose around his neck and jumped, punk style.

Nothing wrong with Cruz talking about the tragic murder of a police officer. I have a big problem with those ( mostly dems.) that immediately call it murder when an officer shoots and kills someone in the line of duty. You will likely hear such talk during the dem convention.
Cruz was wrong to give a speech and not endorse Trumpet. He would have made a stronger statement by not appearing at the convention. This incident does not help or hurt him reference to running in 2020.
There is a long list of things Trump was “wrong” to do, among them mocking Heidi’s looks.
You and so many others need a quick history lesson. Cruz fired first in wifegate when his PAC put out the half nude pics of Melania trying to disparage her for being a model. That part seems to be lost in the discussion.
You might need a quick election law lesson as well as a history lesson. Cruz can’t control a PAC’s actions and he denounced that ad and declared families off-limits.
Denouncing an ad after you released it is yet another punk move by Cruz. And please don’t tell me candidates have no say in what their PACs release. Nobody is that naïve.
Cruz does not have to do things like that. He’s too smart for that kind of mudslinging and no where else in his campaign did he show a bent toward that kind of behavior. But for fun, let’s say someone in Cruz’s campaign did have something to do with it. Cruz immediately came out and denounced it. Trump has repeatedly, from his own mouth, attacked Cruz’s family. Trump is unfit for a decent person’s vote. If that means Hillary wins the presidency, then so be it. It’s not my fault the two major parties put up Nero and The Wicked Witch of the West. I and many like me will wait and watch for an opportunity to correct this tragedy.
This is why many cannot feel sorry for Ted…….

I’m sorry, I don’t see any personal attacks on family here. No one should feel sorry for Cruz. He is a grown man in politics.

Exactly correct. As sad as it is, we accept that they all lie and cheat (Trump of course is the best at this.) But there is a line of decorum that Trump has blasted a huge hole in.
It’s happened before- some people criticizing Chelsea Clinton I vaguely recall- but they normally get quickly denounced for being out of bounds. (It’s bad enough when pundits do it, but we can tune them out. It’s another thing when the alleged responsible leaders do it.)
Not anymore.
Eddie Haskell aka Ted Cruz is a punk who will put a knife in your back with one hand while shaking your hand with the other. He plays the Haskell part well by creating a false perception of innocence as he and his team attack opponents in underhanded ways that have been exposed on many occasions.
Neither side should be attacking the other family, but Cruz opened it and should at least man up to stand by his campaign team instead of attempting to throw them under the bus.
You might glance at this before you write about Cruz again.

Cruz is betting on a Trump loss in November but whoever the next prez is, he’ll go back to the Senate and continue to obstruct and offend while trying to run the House, all the while planning for a 2020 run.
Cruz is a disgusting piece of work but at least he didn’t endorse the man who demeaned him for months, sneered at his wife’s looks, and suggested his father was complicit in killing JFK. For a big chunk of gopers, his act passes for courage.
i have the same question as you. Trump admits that he saw the speech hours ahead and gave the okay to go ahead. What does that say about Trump that he allowed it? Combine that with the “dramatic” optics of Trump walking out during the end of this. People dont think that was orchestrated by Trump?

funny you mention WWE because that is EXACTLY what I thought of when seeing him come out. Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock used to do that come out of the crowd move all the time back in the day. (I havent watched wrestling since they left so not sure if others are doing that as well).
