Gov. Deal Orders Flags At Half-Staff For Nancy Reagan

EXECUTIVE ORDER BY THE GOVERNOR OF GEORGIA:

FLAGS ON STATE BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS ORDERED LOWERED TO HALF STAFF

WHEREAS: Along with her family and friends, the citizens of the United States mourn the passing of former First Lady Nancy Reagan; and

WHEREAS: Nancy Davis Reagan served as First Lady of the United States from 1981-1989. She was the wife of the 40th President of the United States, Ronald Reagan; and

WHEREAS: Mrs. Reagan will be remembered for her platform against recreational drug use by founding the “Just Say No” drug awareness campaign, and her tireless advocacy for Alzheimer’s research.

Now, THEREFORE, IN HONOR AND AS A MARK OF RESPECT FOR THE MEMORY OF NANCY REAGAN, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY

ORDERED: That in conjunction with the Proclamation of the President of the United States of America, the flag of the United States and the flag of the State of Georgia shall be flown at half-staff on all state buildings and grounds from this day until sunset on the day of interment.
