Cong. Lewis and Mayor Reed Lob Serious Bombs at Senator Sanders
Hillary Clinton appears to be enlisting Atlanta’s two biggest heavyweights to go on the offensive against Bernie Sanders.
On Thursday, Congressman John Lewis called into question, well, all of Sanders’ time in the civil rights movement. Mayor Reed, for his part, said Sanders is ignoring the record of the incumbent president. Both have been ardent supporters of Clinton throughout the Campaign.
Lewis said of Sanders’s involvement in the civil rights struggle:
“I never saw him, I never met him. I’m a chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee for three years, from 1963 to 1966. I was involved in the sit-ins, the freedom rides, the March on Washington, the march from Selma to Montgomery, and directed their voter education project for six years. But I met Hillary Clinton. I met President Clinton.”
On CNN, Reed said it’s “been very troubling” to hear Sanders be “so dismissive of the work President Barack Obama has done.” Reed went down a laundry list of Sanders’ talking points on college affordability and healthcare while highlighting the work of Democrats in the last eight years on those issues.
It shouldn’t really be a surprise that Sanders isn’t a fan of the Democratic POTUS considering the good Senator only became a Democrat when it became politically expedient for him to do so in 2015.
You could say that neither rather than Feeling the Bern, the two hope Sanders feels the burn(s).

Read after NH that Hillary was demanding her minions go low in burning Sanders and scorch his turf…..hold on
Congressman Lewis should just stay out of this type of thing. Not his strong suit. He clearly feels he owes Hillary something.
The only thing Lewis is good for, regurgitating prepared lines to attack another politician. Now he can go back to his quiet corner with all the other legislators that do nothing but collect a taxpayer provided check. What a joke.

I am not supporting Bernie Sanders as many of you all ready know. But this attack by Lewis is an insult to anyone who stood up in the civil rights movement. Bernie was arrested as a kid for standing up for the movement. The Clinton’s pile on War on Drugs get tough sentencing policy hurt poor communities no matter what race, as pointed out be the Pew institute. The Pew pointed out that poverty would drop 30 percent if we ended the clinton policy. I guess John Lewis could careless about the poor.Rand Paul was 100 percent correct about this issue during the debates.
