Hello From The Younger Side

Hi, everyone! Last week, I was blessed with the opportunity to begin interning with GeorgiaPol, and I can’t say enough how grateful I am nor how excited I am to get to work.

That being said, I believe introductions are in order. My name is Tate Mitchell, and I am currently a freshman at the University of Georgia majoring in Political Science. Growing up in the small town of Appling, GA, I had many avenues to explore what my interests and passions are, and all of that became a bit clearer for me when I took AP Government and Politics during my freshman year at Greenbrier High School in Evans, GA. Due in no small part to the phenomenal teachers I had in that class, I became passionate about polls, punditry, governmental process (Woot, woot), and how they set the direction of our nation, seeking out opportunities to work on campaigns in the 2014 cycle and even traveling to Washington, DC during the summer after my junior year to work as a page for Senator Johnny Isakson.

I have since arrived on campus in Athens, GA and have done my best to hit the ground running. I currently serve as Executive Director of the UGA College Republicans in addition to being an active member of SGA, “Freshley,” and the local politico-sphere. In the little free time I have, you can find me bellying up to the counter at Raising Cane’s, locked away in my dorm weeping studying, or hanging out with the friends that I’ve been blessed with.

At any rate, enough about me. I’m incredibly humbled by the opportunity to work with the incredible editors, writers, and readers here at GeorgiaPol. I look forward to the discourse, and I am eager to get started!
